Check a city, not a remembered offset
Use your phone's world clock to check your friend's city. Daylight saving changes can alter the difference depending on place and date. If friends in several countries are writing a group card, include the deadline's time zone.
Don't turn a birthday wish into a task
Avoid following your greeting with a demand for a reply. A voice note can be played later, and a call can be arranged separately. One thoughtful message is already a birthday celebration.
